Christina Aguilera- Can't hold us down-2002

Christina Aguilera's song is a way of saying that the way we give to gender norms aren't okay. If a man talks his ind it's alright, but when a woman says something she is a whore. The song also says, "I just can't understand
If the guy have three girls then he's the man He can even give her some head, or sex her off
But if a girl do the same, she's a whore..."(verse 7)
This is talking about how, yeah a man can have fun doing whatever he pleases. While the woman has to do what the guy says, that's not okay. This song is telling us that us woman, have to stand up for ourselves and not let any man step on us.

Lesley Gore- You Don't own Me-1964

You Don't own me sang out loud Lesley Gore in 1964. The song may be 2:03, but in those seconds she can give out a powerful message.
"And don't tell me what to do
Don't tell me what to say
And please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display 'cause
You don't own me"(Verse 2).
The song talks about how when you are with her, you can't control her. She doesn't want you to tell her what to do because guess what. She doesn't tell you what to wear, why should you tell her what to wear. The song wants tell you, don't let anyone change you, be who you are. I'm young and I love to be young, I'm free and I love to be Free as she says this take it in for consideration. Do you want a man to remove your freedom by listening to what he wants you to do or do what you love to do?

Nina Simone- Feeling good
